My Bio
Thank you for visiting my portfolio.

I create both Paintings and Digital artwork that displays nature in a calming manner (with the occasional touch of humor and color). I grew up in a typical suburban home with my family and began uncovering my love and skill for drawing animals at a very young age. I took up Acrylic painting 6 years ago and have only just recently found my talent for painting horses. I would like to be able to sell some of my works in the future. I am making plans to go to the Olds College in Alberta, Canada and get a degree in Equine Science! I was born in June of 1996 in Calgary AB. I am currently 16.

All my pieces start off with a basic sketch which I then finalize into the drawing, which I use as a base for my paints. I find it easy to start a painting off this way because it allows me to draw details into the picture and map out what colors I want where on the canvas. I use normal Basic Acrylic paints for all my paintings, when I paint I generally stick with a dapping motion for my background to create a rough cloudy look and focus most of my detail on the animal, which is always the center of the painting. I try to display themes in my paintings which are normally portrayed in a powerful way or a sense of calmness; my darker paintings (the ones with a lack of color) are usually trying to address power or strength. But almost all the time I leave the theme of my paintings up to the thoughts of the viewer.

My work has really changed in the past 6 months, I used to do a lot of digital works in Photoshop but I have since lost my inspiration for that. I hadn’t painted on a canvas in almost 4 months, I was so stuck. But recently I’ve experienced a few changes in my life and have grabbed the bull by the horns and am painting once more! I believe what inspired me to paint again (especially horses) was my new found interest in the Olds College. I had originally planned to go the Art Institute but I’ve always held a spot near and dear to my heart for horses. I used to ride a lot with my mom about 7 or 8 years ago, so I’ve always had a twinge of horse knowledge. I’m hoping to challenge myself with realistically styled horse paintings in order to expand my skills and abilities!

I am opening commissions to anyone who is interested. I use only quality paints and brushes on high quality canvases and boards.
